Learn about legal issues currently being addressed in marketing and new media campaigns. Douglas Sylvester publishes, teaches and lectures on issues of intellectual property law and commercialization, international law, emerging technologies and privacy. In 2007, Associate Dean Sylvester was appointed Special Consultant to a National Academy of Sciences panel charged with reforming the U.S. Census. He was the founding Faculty Director of the innovative Technology Ventures Clinic, which introduces students to transactional legal practice in high-technology sectors. In recent years, Associate Dean Sylvester also has been an expert witness in cases involving licensing, intellectual property and technology, and has advised numerous entrepreneurs in building their businesses. On Wednesday, October 28th, AMA Phoenix will once again host Shadow Day!The benefits are twofold:
1) Companies that volunteer to host a student for an afternoon are able to prospect future marketers and provide meaningful community service.
2) Students are given the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a local professional to sample post-graduation opportunities available to them.
Shadow Day kick-offs on October 28th when you and your AMA student - the Shadow - will meet at the AMA Luncheon promptly at 11:30 a.m. Please introduce them to the "ins and outs" of professional networking with AMA peers.
After the luncheon, the Shadow will accompany you back to your office (or out in the field) for an afternoon of "hands-on" career observation and analysis. Take your Shadow on a sales call. Meet with a prospective client. Go on a press check. Or conduct a mock interview to help them sharpen their skills.
Please keep in mind that Professional Mentors have one minor obligation - we ask that you don't use the students like file cabinets. Many of them are missing valuable class time to participate in this event, so please help to ensure that it's a worthwhile experience for them.
For more information about becoming a Shadow Mentor, please visit www.amaphoenix.org/collegiate.htm or contact AMA Phoenix's VP of Collegiate Relations, Ben Campbell, at benc@prismagraphic.com or 602-243-8582. *Please Note* Deadline: Online reservations must be made no later than 5:00pm on the Tuesday before AMA's Wednesday luncheon. Refund policy: We are happy to accommodate you as we know your plans may change. Refunds will be made if your reservation is canceled the Friday before the luncheon/event. A 10% handling charge will apply. Guest Policy: We do not offer any complimentary guest passes per paid admission. Registration at door will be $50 for Members/Students and $65 for Non-Members |
